Criminal justice, management homework help

answer 3 questions below with 150 words each!!!!

  • Judicial Review is the power to strike down government actions that are not compatible with the constitution reserved by the courts. Even though it seems that the framers intended for federal courts to have the authority to do so, judicial review is not mentioned anywhere in the constitution. Early on in U.S. history, the Supreme Court has had to go and claim this authority for its self. Following the tumultuous election of 1800, the Federalist Party, which had lost control of the executive and legislative branches, made a grab for the judicial branch of the government. To do this, the lame duck congress passed the Circuit Courts Act of 1801 and the incumbent president, John Adams issued over two hundred nominations for judges and support staff. These nominations, and their issuance, continued right up until the new President took office. In the confusion several appointments were missed by the outgoing Secretary of State, John Marshal, himself having been appointed to the Supreme Court. The incoming president ordered his new Secretary of State, James Madison, to not issue the commissions for judgeship that had been missed in the confusion. Marbury, one of the nominations, sued the new Secretary of State, to make him issue him his commission. The resulting Supreme Court case, Marbury v. Madison, is most commonly recognized as the case that established judicial review authority for the Supreme Court. What else did Marbury v. Madison establish for the Supreme Court beyond the power of Judicial Review and why was this case so important to it?
  • While reading through this week’s readings I have found myself asking so many questions it was very challenging to focus on just one for discussion, however what drew my attention to Religion: Exercise and Establishment Chapter 4 (pg.93). According to the text the united States is one of the world’s more religious nations. More than 80% of Americans report an affiliation with a particular faith tradition, and some 40% attend a place of worship one or more times a week, and almost 60% say that they engage in prayer daily. By contrast, only 5 % of American reject the existence of a God. Given this data religion plays a major role in the lives of most Americans and significantly influences our culture and our politics.(pg.93 Epstein, Lee., Walker, Thomas G. (2013)

The Judiciary Act of 1789 established the U.S. Supreme court and determined that there should be six which consisted of a chief justice and five associates. Furthermore, this act left it to Congress to ultimately decide how many justices should make up the Supreme Court which currently we have nine. Nine individuals that have a lifetime job to ensure they were protected from the agendas of others. Our society is completely different compared to the era of our framers. The changes that we encounter today are predominately due to the advancement of technology or the acceptance of social changes such as same sex marriages. Taking in account, that our highest court has nine people to decipher, review and decide, the low amount of cases reviewed by these individuals and the changes of our society, are the methods in which the U.S. Supreme Court utilizing antiquated? If so what recommendations could be made while maintaining their impartiality?

The first two guarantees in the First Amendment of the Constitution:

“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof” (pg.94 Epstein, Lee., Walker, Thomas G. (2013)

How of the beliefs of our forefathers and framers of this nation influenced politics, and the growth of religious freedom today?

IT Scenarios Challenges and Skills Required in IT Areas

1.

High-level computer languages are created to be understood by humans. As a result, the keywords and the commands of these languages are easy to understand. Machine languages are harder to understand and operate.

For this assignment, you should assume that the memory cells at addresses F0 to F9 are in the machine described here, and that it contains the hexadecimal bit patterns described in the following table.

Note: Each memory address contains 2 values that must be used separately. For example, your first step is to read the first value from memory address F0, which is 2. When you need the next value, read it from the second part of memory address F0, which is a 0. The first part of memory address F1 is next, which is a C, and so on.

  1. Explain (in detail) each step of the machine cycle. Show the contents of each of the registers and each of the memory cells after the execution of the code.
  2. Compare and contrast machine and high-level languages using resources from the Internet or AIU’s library. Be sure to explain why the hexadecimal and binary codes are important for programming in both languages.

2.

Step 1

Information technology (IT) solutions are often dependent upon the application of the discrete mathematics, probability, and statistical methods that you have been introduced to in this course. Click here to refer to an example about how an IT performance problem would be addressed using these techniques.

Note: This example includes advanced topics, and you are not expected to understand the article fully. It is offered here simply as an example of how these techniques may be employed to solve IT problems.

Step 2

Identify and reference a problem in an IT-related system where statistical methods could be used to analyze, evaluate, and recommend performance improvements for the system.

Summarize the problem, and discuss how you would use the discrete mathematics, probability, and statistical methods from this course to analyze the associated data, present the information, and draw inferences to develop a solution that would improve system performance. Explain your reasoning.

Case study:

LEADERSHIP CASE PROBLEM A

Are Drivers or Smartphones to Blame?

Top-level leaders at a company that manufactures smartphones, tablet computers, and portable music players, among other electronic devices held a one day retreat. The purpose was to think though how well the company was contributing to society. Technology chief, Olivia, commented, “I am very proud of us as a company. Think of what we have done for the world. Because of our products, people are more productive, smarter, and happier. At any time of the day, millions of users can access the information they need, and get in touch with whoever they want. Furthermore, they don’t have to clutter their minds with facts, or even know how to spell correctly, or do basic math. With the tap of a few buttons, or touching a screen, they get all the information they need.” CEO Raphael added, “You are so right Olivia. Also, people don’t even have to pay for landline telephones any longer. And think of how hundreds of companies can hire fewer people because of our devices. I learned recently that many car dealerships have laid off many of their in-store sales reps because a good deal of car purchasing is now done over the Internet. And people don’t have to purchase those ink-laden newspapers because they can get all the information they need on a handheld device.” Derek, the marketing manager, with a worried look said to the group. “We all make a great living from the electronic devices we make and sell, and so do our competitors. The information technology industry has created millions of jobs. And maybe we have also eliminated millions of jobs. However, I want us as industry leaders to focus on one issue right now. “The accidents and deaths our devices are facilitating are getting out of hand. At first it was people sending and receiving calls on their cell phones that was creating driving hazards. Then along came texting which is even a bigger problem. Now we have data that the number of people who surf the Internet while driving is surging. “I know that states, provinces, and municipalities forbid texting or handheld phone use while driving, but the laws are largely ignored, and the carnage continues. I am asking us to consider what role we should play as an industry leader in getting consumers to use our products in a way that does not harm or kill other people on the streets and highways.” Raphael replied, “I think that local governments, Internet service providers, and perhaps schools have more responsibility for minimizing accidents with smartphone users. If we were making kitchen knives instead of electronic devices would we be responsible for the occasional deaths and injuries caused by these knives? “In our situation, we have to ask whether the drivers or the smartphones are to blame for the accidents of distracted drivers.”
