For the second SLP, using the data that you collected for the Module 1 SLP, please do the following:

1. Calculate the mean, median, mode, variance, and standard deviation of the measurements taken in Module 1 SLP. Show your work and be sure to express each value in units.
2. Discuss which measure of central tendency you think most accurately describes the variable that you measured. Provide a thorough explanation.
3. Describe the spread/distribution of your data. Be sure to describe the variance of distribution and the concept of standard deviation as a measure of dispersion in your response.
4. Conduct a scholarly search on the internet to find reported health statistics on the variable that you are measuring. For example, if you are measuring your total daily caloric intake, American Dietetic Association. Identify the source.

Submit your (2-3 pages) paper by the end of this module.

Organizations periodically need to create a new position. The need for this new position might be due to:

• Changes in the market/industry
• Creating an internal position for work that had previously been outsourced
• Organizational growth that necessitates the addition of a new specialty or managerial position

You serve as the Human Resource Manager for an auto insurance company called Premium Auto Insurance. Up until this point, the Claims Department has consisted of a small number of Claims Representatives who reported directly to the Finance Director.

Claims volume has recently jumped, resulting in the hiring of more Claims Representatives. You, as the Human Resource Manager, feel that a new position of Claims Supervisor is needed in order to manage the expanding claims operation.

You have decided to develop a proposal that you will submit to the CEO recommending the creation of this new position and providing the justification.

Conduct using the library’s databases, via EBSCO a as well as reliable webpages and in a minimum of 2 pages, create a proposal. In your proposal, include the following:

1. A description of the new position you will be creating with a list of the main responsibilities of the position.
2. Explain how this new position could benefit the company in at least three ways.
3. Describe how this position will work collaboratively with other positions in the company.
4. Remember that this is a proposal. Make sure to format your paper properly for your proposal. A proposal is a persuasive document, so make sure to use proper language and tone. Remember, you are the HR Manager and you are writing to the CEO so use a tone in your proposal that is specific to your audience (the CEO).
5. Include an APA formatted title page and reference page with at least 2 credible sources. Make sure to include APA in-text citations for any information used from outside sources.

Discussion 2: Ethical Considerations in Practice

One way of broaching the topic of ethics in professional practice is to focus on particular ethical dilemmas that arise in the research or practice that surrounds management activities themselves. For example, well-known ethical dilemmas exist in the field of human resources, and other dilemmas surround the handling of financial transactions and decisions.

To prepare for this Discussion, review the week’s Learning Resources, and consider the unique ethical challenges for different target populations when conducting doctoral research. Consider your own Doctoral Problem Statement that you drafted at the end of the previous course (DDBA 8161) and the target populations that would be reviewed by an international review board (IRB). For example, a research study that focuses on government employees must take into consideration issues such as security clearances, access to data, and restrictions on publication. Be sure to review the organizational access checklist outlined in Box 6.10 on page 239 in Saunders, Lewis, and Thornhill (2015).

By Day 4

Post an analysis of ethical considerations for target populations within the doctoral research process. Your analysis should include the following:

• Briefly describe a target population within your Doctoral Study, including any relevant factors that could be scrutinized by an IRB committee.
• Identify specific ethical considerations for the target population within your Doctoral Study, including access, data, or publication restrictions, for example.
• Explain how this population and its ethical considerations impact both the process and the overall value of your doctoral research study.

Be sure to support your work with a minimum of two specific citations from this week’s Learning Resources and at least one additional scholarly source. Saunders, M. N. K., Lewis, P., & Thornhill, A. As a final journal for change efforts the following two questions must be answered.

• How prepared should a person be to be part of a change effort in an organization?
• How will you be able to add value to that effort? How prepared should a person be to be in a position of leadership in a change effort in an organization

Select two new customer segments for a brand of your choice, and name them. You may create a name based on their characteristics. For example, if you chose a coffee brand, you may have the Serious Sippers as a customer segment and the Dabble Drinkers as the second.

• Distinguish the primary and secondary markets.
  • The primary market is normally larger than the secondary market. These customers primarily use the product the most.
  • The secondary market can include customers who might use or be interested in the product only occasionally.
• Detail the demographics and psychographics of both market segments.
  • Include the basic characteristics of your current and potential customers such as age, gender, income, education, ethnicity and geographic locations. You may use existing data.
• Examine your customers’ lifestyles such as hobbies and other interests. Explain how these lifestyles may affect the purchase decision for this product.

Your paper should meet the following requirements:

• 3-4 pages in length, not including title and reference pages
• Formatted according to CSU-Global Guide to Writing and APA Requirements
• Include at least 3 outside sources. The CSU-Global Library is a good place to find these sources.
